Top Ten Tuesday: Authors I had Forgotten I Loved

It goes without saying, that over time, our book genre preferences change. And with that comes a shift from the authors you are familiar with to new ones that you grow to look. At least, that’s been the case with me. But, that doesn’t mean that the writers, whose works I grew up with, have fallen from their pedestal.

It just means that the pedestal is a little dusty because I haven’t been around to clean it up. Well, this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish is getting me to do just that. Here’s my list of writers that I had forgotten I loved:

1. Mark Twain

The author who gave us The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer.

2. Charles Dickens

The author of A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist.

3. YB Yeats

The poet, whose poetry still fills me up.

4. William Shakespeare

The “One” who gave the world Julius Ceasar and A Midsummer Night’s Dream

5. Enid Blyton

The author of our childhood’s perfect adventures.

6. William Wordsworth

The poet who made every word count.

Well, for the most part, these are some of the authors I remember reading years ago and not having sought out more of their writings in the past 5 years. There are others, like Eoin Colfer, whose books I have read in that time.

Honorable Mention: Meg Cabot, of the Princess Diaries fame.
